Sutton Tools team honoured with industry awards

Sutton Tools has had a great year for hardware industry awards in 2019! Ben Williams puts it down to the quality of our people and the great support of our retail customers.

During the second half of each year, the state chapters of Hardware Australia hold their prestigious awards events. We were thrilled to be named Supplier of the Year in the Tools category in South Australia in early August. But it didn’t stop there…

Later in August we achieved the same honour in the NSW and ACT Hardware Industry Awards. So imagine our pleasure on 5 October in our hometown of Melbourne when we completed the hat trick as 2019 Supplier of the Year (Tools) for Victoria and Tasmania as well!

Supplier of the Year is perhaps the most prestigious of the Hardware Industry Awards. Retail hardware businesses across Australia nominate the suppliers that they feel have delivered excellence in service, sales and products over the past year across eight categories including timber, paint, electrical and so on. Nominations are tallied, and the supplier with the most nominations in each category is awarded Supplier of the Year for that state.

We were also privileged to receive recognition from the members of leading Australian hardware buying group, TradeSmart. During their national conference in August we were announced the winner in three of four categories:

  • TradeSmart Supplier of the Year 2019
  • TradeSmart Best Logistics 2019
  • TradeSmart Best Customer Service 2019

We were also delighted in September when our NSW Account Manager Joanne Amoroso was honoured by Total Tools franchisees as their 2019 Supplier Representative of the Year. The award is given to “the people that value add, both for their own company and their customers … integrity, energy and enthusiasm from sales representatives remains paramount in achieving great outcomes”.

For Sutton Tools, winning these awards is absolutely down to the excellence of our experienced team. We’re a family-owned business based in Victoria since 1917 – still manufacturing tools in Thomastown and Maryborough. Our products are now shipped around the world.

The quality of our product engineering, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics are down to a dedicated group of people committed to excellence and customer service. It’s a challenge to stock 16,000 to 20,000 SKUs and get it right, but thanks to the systems they’ve developed and manage, our team does just that.

We are exceptionally proud of our workforce, some of whom have been with us very many years. In fact, average employment with Sutton Tools is 17.5 years.

Winning so many awards in a single year is testament to the efforts of our people. We’re also very appreciative that our customers across the Australian hardware industry have nominated and voted for us. Thank you – we value your recognition.
